ABOUT AMANDA
Amanda Beenen Cantor is born and raised in Holland. In her early years she traveled the world as a professional windsurfer. The only thing she wanted to do, was be in the ocean. Being immersed in the world of windsurfing sparked her interest in all other sorts of ocean sports and adventure. Her passion eventually brought her to Hawaii, where she broke her leg windsurfing and sidelined herself for the season. This ended up being a blessing in disguise. She picked up a camera and stuck it in a $100 waterhousing so she could still be part of the action in a different way.
Those first blurry photos of surfers and the waves they rode, gave her a feeling of excitement she hadn’t experienced in a long time. She spend the next years swimming and perfecting her photography. Amanda's background in ocean sports gives her a unique perspective on capturing the essence of the lifestyle and the athletes who participate in it. Getting herself established in shooting ocean sports she managed to grow her photography into the commercial world. Today, Amanda resides in Hawaii, where she works as a full-time professional photographer.
